The horses have been and continue to be wonderful teachers helping me build skill and feel as I apply the techniques of the classroom and textbook. Each horse has their own needs and preferences and I approach each massage as an exchange; letting input from the horse guide the process of release and relaxation throughout the body.
A retired nurse and national park service ranger I have training and clinical experience in anatomy and physiology, range of motion, physical therapy, medical and surgical procedures, and emergency medical response which facilitates my understanding of equine anatomy and physiology.
My interest in equine massage began with massage, core strengthening, and flexibility exercises on my own horse leading me to seek certification in Equine Sports Massage Therapy through Equissage. I have also attended one on one training sessions in muscle release techniques, stretching, and core strengthening exercises as well as a three day intensive Equine Anatomy course at the Animal Rehab Institute in Loxahatchee, Florida.
I look forward to massaging your equine partner.

Riding and Training
My latest equine partner is Sietske, a 6 year old Friesian mare who came to me from Ots Sunrise Farm in Wisconsin on Memorial Day weekend 2011. Sietske is responding beautifully to a progressive program designed to increase her elasticity and build core strength. Stay tuned for photos!
Orinoco Flow or "Ori" a 1996 Dutch Warmblood gelding found a new "mom" in November, 2010. Congratulations, Susan! Equine massage, core strengthening, and flexibility exercises were an important part of our cross training program. Ori and I competed in dressage competitions at USDF First Level.
Ori demonstrates his carrot stretches to clinic participants at Sand Hill Stable, Mantua, Ohio.
