It takes a Village
by Betsy Rebar Sell
It takes a village to keep a dressage horse going. I should know, as I have been fortunate to have my Grand Prix partner Wonderful Walden winning in the FEI show ring at top shows for more than a decade. This takes a good horse and a lot of luck, but there are plenty of people behind the scenes making it happen. You have to have a great program and manage all aspects of your horse's care and training.
Mosie Welch is a part of the village that I rely on to keep my horses going. Massages are a part of my program. Mosie and I work together to help keep my horses comfortable so that they can do their jobs. She works on improving problem areas, suggests exercises (mounted and unmounted), and addresses concerns I might have. She has a scientific background in addition to her many years spent with horses. She is a good listener and a good communicator. I feel fortunate to have her part of my village.
